“STORIES OF EMIGRATION: BETWEEN THE PAST AND PRESENT” in Val Gandino.
The City of Gandino launches a journey through stories of emigration, from the past to the present. The photographs recount the experiences of our emigrant ancestors and the people who, even today, face the challenges of a new beginning far from home. A reflection on the roots, difficulties and courage of those who sought a better life.
Help us with your photos to enrich the collective narrative of our roots and current challenges!
We invite current and past residents of Val Gandino to send in their photographs related to emigration abroad, both historical and contemporary with the addition of the names of the subjects portrayed or a brief explanation/details.

With the photos received, a dedicated exhibition will be set up in the Piazza in Gandino from Sept. 27 to Oct. 6.
Gandino is one of the winning municipalities of the Bando delle Radici (Roots’ projec funding application) and in this 2024 they are proposing activities, events and initiatives on the themes of Bergamasque emigration in the world, through the enhancement of the territory and local products.
